You've pushed the envelope my friend.

You were one of the first people on Newgrounds that helped me and I've always admired your classical skills and works. This composition makes me wish I continued my piano studies after G10. :'( Now I have to come up with something on par with this just to keep up LOL , which would be hard. :(

5/5 10/10

Please submit more of your classical works! I am one of those who would greatly appreciate it.

DavidOrr responds:

Thanks for the kind words! I've noticed more and more Newgrounders are starting to have a strong grasp of their music theory knowledge, which has started to create more of a demand for these kind of works. The past year I haven't submitted much here because I've had so much on my plate, but I am strongly considering coming back the Newgrounds to share more of my music once again.

Anyway, being a pianist myself, I've been working on a collection of etudes. I may put one or two up here for download sometime in the future.

Thanks for the review!

Sorta reminds me of...

Melody needed

The background music is tasteful enough. But you need to add that melody soon. Either with a seperate instrument, or with vocals. but this is pretty good for your first submission.

1carrotMusic responds:

thanks :P
I know the drum loops a bit crappy for one but when I can I'll be experimenting with this new program im getting (forgot the name :S) improving the loops then just import them back in. Should be miles better, but i'll see where it goe's first. Could be ages till I can get round to it 'cause I got heaps of work to catch up on :P

Nice wow

Was this completely done on a sequencer, or did you record some keyboard parts live ? This is pretty nice, but it's lacking a main identifiable melody.

FairSquare responds:

I don't record anything live :-(
I'd like to do that though and i think i could, if i had the equipment.

Hmm

I feel you need a identifiable main theme or melody. This would do well in a fight scene, or chase scene I think. But Leitmotiff is very important in this style of music.

blackattackbitch responds:

Yeah I just looked up the meaning of leitmotif, and I noticed that that's been leaving my music as of late. I need to try to get back to that, as that is a good principle to have.

You think it would fit in those two categories? I don't know, maybe the last section, but then again, music is subjective though, so you know.

Really glad you liked it though, thanks for the review!

Laputa Castle in the Sky

This is the main title melody from "Laputa Castle in the Sky", by Joe Hisaishi. It's not exactly correct, but nice piano playing nevertheless. I would give youa 10, but since it's not your own composition I see fit to give you 9/10

alix1 responds:

Thanks!

Solo violin = killa

The solo violin really nails the feeling you are going for.

MaestroRage responds:

I'm glad you thought so! I knew the secret was to rely on the solo violinist to get that sensation.

Thanks again for the review, i'm glad you liked it!
